Spotify Testing Cheaper Subscription Plan For Duos

(CelebrityAccess) – Spotify announced this week that it is testing a new cheaper subscription plan for couples, roommates and other duos living under the same roof.

The streaming giant’s “Premium Duo” package, which will run you about €12.49 ($14USD) per month, offers users a personal Duo Mix playlist that is regularly auto-generated based on music both people like, the ability to share playlists — or their entire library — with their partner in a single click, and access to Duo Hub, a single destination to manage accounts, edit your home setup and view settings.

Spotify’s Premium subscription currently costs €9.99 per month, while the company’s existing Family subscription, which allows up to six people to share the same plan, costs €14.99 per month. So, the savings are minimal.

Something to note: Like the Family subscription, Premium Duo subscribers must live at the same address. In an effort to crack down on friends sharing plans despite not living together as a family, Spotify will now ask you to provide your address as part of the Duo sign-up process.

At the moment, Spotify is reportedly piloting Premium Duo in Columbia, Chile, Denmark, Ireland and Poland.
