Glastonbury To Include A Pier, Even If There Is No Ocean Beneath

ENGLAND (CelebrityAccess) This year’s Glastonbury Festival, to take place June 26-30 near Pilton, Somerset, England, will not only include acts like The Chemical Brothers, The Cure and The Killers, but also a 60-meter-long pier called “Glastonbury-on-sea.”

The new project is said to resemble a Victorian pier. The announcement of the “enormous pier” came in passing while Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis was speaking at the launch show of Joe Rush’s Stories From The Wasteland. Rush’s sculptures and artwork have been a staple of the festival since the 1980s.

That show is located at the newly opened Vinegar Yard, a new venue and outdoor mini-festival space next to London Bridge that features vintage market, food and drink stalls, according to MixMag.

The pier, designed by Rush, isn’t really a pier in the classic sense considering it will be raised over the grassy field of Glastonbury usually designed for cattle grazing, although it may bring a nice respite during those muddy times.
