MMF Secures Arts Council of England Backing For Accelerator Programme

LONDON (CelebrityAccess) – The Music Managers Forum (MMF) has today (Oct. 30) announced that it is adding financial support to its Accelerator Programme through the backing of Arts Council England.

Accelerator, which is the first ever independent funding programme for music managers, launched in partnership with YouTube Music, will now offer grants of up to £15,000 for individuals living in England and Scotland who are looking to move into full-time music management.

The Arts Council’s backing will also provide managers access to expert guidance and networking opportunities with companies including Harbottle & Lewis, Simons Muirhead & Burton, Simkins LLP, Sheridans, SRLV Accountants and Music Insurance Brokers.

Commenting on the news, Fiona McGugan, general manager, MMF, said: “We are incredibly grateful to have Arts Council England’s backing for Accelerator. As well as up to £15,000 in funding, the programme’s education and training components are absolutely vital and will enable upcoming music managers to benefit from expert guidance from some of the most respected names in the business.”

Claire Mera-Nelson, director of music and London at the Arts Council, added: “Music Managers are vital to this industry, and the Accelerator Programme is doing crucial work – not only through funding individuals, but enabling them to participate in education and training essential to their role. The Arts Council is thrilled to support this excellent programme, and I personally look forward to witnessing how the programme will play a part in the story of these Music Managers of the future.”

Spotify To Remove India’s Saregama Catalog Amid Copyright Infringement Lawsuit

INDIA (CelebrityAccess) – Global music streaming giant Spotify has agreed to remove all works belonging to India’s oldest record label, Saregama, from its platform within the next 10 days. The decision follows a copyright infringement suit against Spotify brought by Saregama and heard by Delhi’s High Court. In the lawsuit, which is available for viewing here , Saregama claims that, although it entered into negotiations with Spotify for a copyright license and permitted Spotify to upload its content a month ahead of the platform’s launch in India, the two parties never actually finalized their deal.
