UTA Acquires Esports Company Press X

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) United Talent Agency has announced it has acquired eSports talent and marketing agency Press X and Everyday Influencers, management company represetning streamers.

With the acquisitions, UTA will launch an eSports group that will include more than 90 eSports athletes and top streamers including League of Legends stars Aphromoo and sOAZ, according to the announcment, as well as streamers Imaqtpie, Pokimane and Disguised Toast, among others.

Press X and Everyday Influencers Co-Founder, Damon Lau, will head the newly minted group and report to UTA Games Head, Ophir Lupu and UTA Ventures Head, Sam Wick.

“As we identify and adopt early trends within the digital ecosystem, we recognized that the acquisition of Press X and Everyday Influencers would be a forward-looking opportunity for us,” said UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer. “The gaming sector is projected to reach over $135B this year and esports and streaming are critical components of any strategy for growth. For UTA, these categories are complementary to our existing gaming practice and our business overall.”

UTA has already established UTA Games, representing game developers and studios. The division is led by Lupu.

Roc Nation Sues Insurance Carrier Regarding Jordan Feldstein’s Death

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Roc Nation has reportedly filed a lawsuit against its insurance carrier and is seeking $11 million regarding the death of Maroon 5 manager Jordan Feldstein. Roc Nation, a joint venture of Jay-Z and Live Nation Entertainment partnered with Feldstein’s Career Artist Management in 2016 and took out a “key man” life insurance policy with HCC International Insurance to protect its investment with the music manager, according to  Variety . Roc Nation claims that, after Feldstein died Dec. 22, 2017 because of a blood clot in his let, HCC was slow in evaluating the claim and finally determined the payout would $1.2 million; the policy carried a liability limit of $12.5 million, according to Roc Nation’s lawsuit.
