WASHINGTON, D.C. (CelebrityAccess) – Jack White surprised 200 D.C. high school students with a lunchtime concert yesterday afternoon.
Following the 45 minute performance, which took place at Woodrow Wilson High School and included a stomping rendition of The White Stripes classic “Seven Nation Army,” White spent time chatting with students and giving away guitar picks.
White, who was in town for two sold-out shows at The Anthem, teamed with D.C. Public Schools in hopes of providing a memorable experience for students as the school year comes to a close.
To maintain the surprise, only the school’s principal Kimberly Martin and one other school administrator were aware of the performance.
Among the school’s alumni are D.C. hardcore punk legends Singer Ian MacKaye and drummer Jeff Nelson of Minor Threat / Dischord Records.
